Dar Almandumah Signs Jordan University Content Agreement

The University of Jordan and Dar Almandumah signed, on Sunday, March 9, an agreement for publishing the university’s scholarly content. The agreement was signed on behalf of the university by its President, Dr. Akel Al-Tarawneh, and on behalf of Dar Almandumah by its Director, Dr. Ali Al-Shuwaish, in the presence of Dr. Muhannad Mubaideen, Director of the Library Unit.

The agreement provides for making the University of Jordan’s scholarly content—over which it holds intellectual property rights—available to Dar Almandumah, including scholarly journals, academic theses, scientific conferences, historical documents, and lectures.

In a press statement following the signing ceremony on Sunday, Dr. Al-Tarawneh said: “The university will place all its capabilities at the service of strengthening its long-standing ties with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia politically, socially, and historically, and will further enhance them in the educational sphere.”

For his part, Dr. Mubaideen said that the agreement would contribute to increasing access rates to the university’s journals, in addition to expanding the use of the available databases.

Dr. Mubaideen added that the library remains committed to supporting the university’s policies aimed at moving toward greater international standing by expanding international participation in databases and by providing researchers and students with the studies, research, and information they need, in ways that contribute to the development and prosperity of societies.

Dr. Al-Shuwaish emphasized the importance of benefiting from the distinguished scholarly content of the University of Jordan, noting as well that the university serves as a legal deposit center for academic theses in the Arab world. He also pointed out that this agreement would contribute to increasing access to the university’s journals and scholarly theses through Dar Almandumah’s databases, where daily downloads of studies exceed ten thousand papers.
