Dar Almandumah recently signed a cooperation agreement in Cairo with EBSCO. Under this agreement, Dar Almandumah allows EBSCO to make all of its bibliographic records available through the widely used EDS platform in libraries across the Arab world and beyond.
Through this agreement, Dar Almandumah offers its clients an additional way to search its databases via the EDS platform, integrated with online library catalogs, without the need to search directly on Dar Almandumah’s own platform. Users are then referred to Dar Almandumah’s platform to view the full material details and download the full text of research papers. It is worth noting that Dar Almandumah’s bibliographic data has exceeded 650,000 records.
EBSCO has been providing the EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) platform to libraries since 2010. It is a search system and discovery engine that offers libraries a fast solution for searching all library resources at once through a single site. It indexes and organizes the contents of the local library as well as the international databases subscribed to by the library, allowing users to search library resources and global databases through one interface without needing to move between different database websites on the internet. The EDS platform collects metadata from local library sources and from database providers—such as Dar Almandumah—integrates them together, and indexes them in advance so that they are ready for immediate and direct searching through the library’s website.
