Dar Almandumah received the Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Award for Professional Excellence. The award is granted to outstanding information projects that address real challenges, make a tangible contribution to the field, and have been successfully implemented in practice. The Professional Excellence Award is one of three awards approved by the Scientific Committee of the Saudi Library and Information Association and King Fahd National Library.
The award was granted to Dar Almandumah in recognition of its professional excellence in enriching Arabic scholarly content. The committee responsible for the award reviewed the company’s product, the Educational Database EduSearch, and concluded that the company deserved the Prince Salman Award for Professional Excellence.
It is worth noting that His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, General Supervisor of King Fahd National Library, and Honorary President of the Saudi Library Association, had previously approved the launch of three awards bearing his name. These awards are presented by the Saudi Library and Information Association to specialists and institutions concerned with libraries and information in support of the library profession. They are: the Prince Salman Award for Scientific Excellence, the Prince Salman Award for Research Excellence, and the Prince Salman Award for Professional Excellence.
For his part, the Chairman of the Saudi Library Association and Board Member, Dr. Jibril Arish, stated that “the annual Prince Salman Awards for Scientific, Professional, and Research Excellence aim to encourage professionals working in the information field in the Kingdom to achieve further scientific, professional, and research distinction, and to enrich the Saudi information community with distinguished scholarly and professional work.” He explained that “the Professional Excellence Award is dedicated to outstanding information projects that address real challenges, make a tangible contribution to the field, and have been successfully implemented in practice.”
As part of the activities of the 6th conference of the Saudi Library Association, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin سعد Al-Salem, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of King Fahd National Library and Member of the Shura Council, presented the Professional Excellence Award to the company’s General Manager, Dr. Ali bin Shuwaish Al-Shuwaish. He expressed his great thanks and appreciation to the Saudi Library Association, noting that this award is a badge of honor for the company and that this recognition places an even greater responsibility on the company to intensify its efforts in supporting Arabic content and elevating it to a global standard, as well as opening broader avenues of cooperation with relevant entities inside and outside the Kingdom in the field of Arabic digital content.
