Dar Almandumah has successfully launched its new search platform, which operates as an integrated system comprising eight sub-systems to provide an advanced platform for search and retrieval. Among the most notable of these systems is the journal browsing system, inspired by ScienceDirect, which offers users an additional way to access information—beyond search and retrieval—through browsing and reviewing journal issues. In addition, the platform includes a reporting system for Dar Almandumah database usage, enabling the account manager in each library to generate and review all reports related to the use of the databases by library beneficiaries, including the number of logins, file downloads, most frequently used search terms, and many other detailed statistics, graphs, and reports, all directly and without the need to refer back to the Dar Almandumah system administration.
Among the platform’s most significant achievements is the launch of Dar Almandumah’s Theses Database, which, God willing, will become the primary reference for all Arab universities in the field of academic theses. Another major achievement of this platform is the reintroduction of full-text entry and full-text searching, with the full texts of all research published from 2009 to the present having been re-entered.
It is also worth noting the quantitative growth of the databases’ content, as their content has expanded significantly to reach approximately 600,000 research papers and studies available across the company’s six databases. The number of scholarly journals included has reached around 1,400 periodicals, in addition to nearly 1,750 conferences and seminars.
The platform was officially launched for users at the beginning of 2015, and researchers can now access the new platform through the new link: http://search.mandumah.com. Please note that the old platform was scheduled to be discontinued on 1/2/2015.
